  • Long ago, we had wanted to do it but the small age did impossible mode of return. They offered us the possibility of making it from Asturias, with return in 4 x 4... At first we thought it was expensive (€ 30/person) but nothing further from the truth. In a Land Rover defender toured the Park from Cain, we go up to 2000 m, wonderful views, Leon, Palencia, Asturias and Cantabria. zoology, geology and botany classes free, by the guide who was a machine (had degree in materials)... You and nogales, Hazel, wild cherry, blueberries, Brooks and streams, all kinds of butterflies and even signs of passage of bears in some areas... lowered by roads with horses and even fawns... Stopped at source, below, and then rise to the ancient glacial cirques, where there is one of the best views of the visit. Chamois and vultures decorate the landscape... The descent to Poncebos is a show... It is worthwhile, and much. Is it expensive? If you can afford it, I see it very highly recommended.

  • We walked this on a very hot day in July (36C+). A really great walk, and there was some respite from the heat under shady cool overhangs and tunnels. Starting at Cain de Valdeón Climbing gently from ...  more »
  • We went to spend a weekend week and a morning take it to make this route. We started in Asturias, Poncebos, until Cain Leon. We do back and forth and I have to say that it does not have great difficulty. Hardest thing is from poncebos the first ascent of a couple of kilometers but by everything from more is almost all plain. We have food and water. A beautiful route

  • Great walk through tunnels and along paths carved out of the steep sided gorge
  • Very beautiful hike if you are not scared from heights, to bad it doesn't have a round trip, so if you go you need to walk back the same way..
  • Impressive route. It is worth to do it for free without paying roundtrip firms. It is not so heavy. But to do it early. (07.00)

  • I recommend starting from Poncebos Cain. The beginning is uphill. When some 3 kilometres pass becomes plain almost until the end. They are about 12 km on the Cares Gorge. Very nice route and easy. On arrival at Cain, there are buses that take you back to Cain during the summer season. You can also hire taxis or 4 x 4 reservation required routes.
