Castillo de Loarre, Aragon

(4.7/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web)
Described by UNESCO as "undoubtably the best castle in all of Aragon," Castillo de Loarre held a strategic position on the frontier between Christian and Muslim lands. Built largely during the 11th and 12th centuries, the castle is very well-preserved, and underwent major restorations in the 20th century. Explore its large walls, numerous towers, and enclosed Church of San Pedro. Of its three towers, the "Tower of the Queen" is particularly noteworthy for its set of twin-arched windows, which have been attributed to Lombard and Mozarabic architectural forms. Film buffs might recognize the castle from its appearance in the 2005 epic "Kingdom of Heaven." Make Castillo de Loarre a part of your Yeste vacation plans using our Yeste vacation route planner.

  • We come to visit this incredible Castle... This super conserved well with rooms and spectacular rooms... without a doubt of the best castles I've seen in 2004 was filmed Ridley Scott movie with Orlando Bloom... so you can get an idea of how handsome that is! Recommended frames

  • Here was filmed the movie "Kingdom of heaven" directed by Oliver Stone and starring by Orlando Bloom in the main role. The enclave is the only and the views are spectacular. From the reception there are a lot of activities even specific to children as "the treasure hunt". I encourage you to visit it 100%! It is unforgettable and their conservation status unique in Europe especially judging by its antiquity.

  • One of the oldest Romanesque castles in Europe. It rises from the same rock blending with her dominating all the pot of Huesca. Its great state of preservation and the wonderful view make it a must-see

  • un castillo bonissima.
  • A castle of importance, and more recently, a castle of film stardom (Kingdom of Heaven). The visitor centre/ticket office is well designed too, as it looks to be 'underground'.
  • Amazing place, great view of the valley and an incredibly beautiful romanic church. The castle is fantastic
  • Unique location...amazing Castle nearby Huesca.
  • really cool how do you know all of this like how do you keep track of all of this
