  • A must on theAntequera trail, lovely old chuch at the top of the town. Some parking further on. Tourist info opposite and plenty of restaurants nearby
  • It is another antequerano monument of the first order which we find after the Arco de los Gigantes. Serves as the entrance to the Citadel to visit it (6 euro in total), which we recommend to do after that to respect the chronological order and rest of his ups and downs inevitable... It is a Renaissance monument of the 16TH century, exerted from the city's main church until it was Deconsecrated and became a mixture of living museum and events and Conference room. Emphasizes craft especially, as well as its original structure which is impressive. It is worth seeing videos and reports that about its history are projected on the ground, because it allows to get a day exact in its construction and subsequent functionality. And you must see not only inside but also outside, first along the magnificent plaza which is located and enjoying harmony and Majesty of its facade...

  • I've only met her outside because it was closed, in front has a very charming café where we were enjoying the beautiful architecture of the Church and also for being a loud location we were able to admire the charming town of Antequera.

  • The main church of Antequera Impressive, majestic, even overpowering - the words used to describe this Renaissance gem are many. It is the major church of the 28 that the city possesses, but is no longer used for religious services, but for concerts and cultural exhibitions. It is next to the Alcazaba, through the Giants' Arch - El Arco de los Gigantes. Built between 1514 and 1550 on the instigation of the Bishop of Malaga, it was the first church in Andalucia to be built in Renaissance style, and served as inspiration for part of the Cathedral of Granada. There is no free entrance for services, obviously, since there are none. The €3 fee is reduced to €1.50 for the over-65s, and it's worth waving your passport for the reduction both here and in the Alcazaba. I managed it with my TfL Freedom Bus Pass . . . my wrinkled face may have helped too! There is an interesting wall plaque commemorating the visit of the King and Queen, and a wooden float of the "Taranca", a mythical semi-religious figure half-woman, half serpent or dragon, which heads the processions at Corpus Christi, to the delight of the children watching. .
  • If you like looking at churches, you will like Antequera because it has quite a few - there are twenty-eight churches in all but the finest of the religious buildings is the 16th century Real Colegiata de Santa María la Mayor, which has been designated a national monument.
  • Amazing place with great views and scenic road leading to it. This is one of the highlights of the area. Stick to the views restaurants around are mediocre and can be skipped
  • Unique historical monument. Spectacular views all within a fantastic people and very well preserved. It is worth losing by these places.

  • Conjunto arquitetónico de singular beleza. Vistas magníficas sobre o vale do rio Vero, e sobre o povoado de Alquezar.
