Matalascanas, Almonte

#6 of 7 in Parks in Province of Huelva
Surrounded by Doñana National Park, Matalascanas is a beach famous for the upside-down tower protruding from the water just off the beach. The tower, called Torre la Higuera, was built for defense by Phillip II in the 16th century. The beach is usually quiet, so it makes a great destination for families and those looking for an escape. While the sand is dark and the water not very clear, it's still a great place for sunbathing and swimming. It is a pity that this which was a wonderful beach has fallen in the lack of care and investment by owner municipality: Almonte. To start there are just monitoring. The police are completely absent. The same in relation to the posts of first aiders that must have one for each km of beach which is absolutely insufficient for a beach with such assistance. Impossible to park anywhere. The public parking inadequate and overcrowded. In short, without remedy.
