Matalascanas, Almonte

(2/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web)
Surrounded by Doñana National Park, Matalascanas is a beach famous for the upside-down tower protruding from the water just off the beach. The tower, called Torre la Higuera, was built for defense by Phillip II in the 16th century. The beach is usually quiet, so it makes a great destination for families and those looking for an escape. While the sand is dark and the water not very clear, it's still a great place for sunbathing and swimming.
