#2 of 25 in Museums in Costa Blanca
MARQ Provincial Archaeological Museum is an award-winning museum featuring archeological displays about the residents of this area. Located in a renovated historical building that was once a hospital, its eight galleries educate you on lives of the past, from ancient to modern times. The rooms are designed in different forms according the time period, so you’ll experience everything from caves to a sailing ship known as a galleon. Videos and interactive computer programs are fun ways to learn here, but consider taking a guided tour if you can’t read in Spanish. Temporary exhibits are often traveling through, so check the website in advance. Very well organized, has its perennial exhibits (prehistory, Rome...) and special exhibitions. I've been to see several and I've loved the truth. For only €3 entrance you get into another time and learn a lot of things. The Maya exhibition is currently.

After yesterday's trip to the castle we decided to visit this museum. We had read a few reviews and it seemed worth the trip. On Sunday the museum is only open from 10-2pm so we headed up for about 11...  more »

Amazing building and great exposure. Oriented didactics for everyone, both in its travelling exhibitions (with qualified guide and explanation complete, easy and fun option) as in its permanent exhibition that it has really spectacular montages to contextualize each historical stage. Very suitable for families and children, which also may enroll in very interesting specific workshops and activities. The spectacular price for everything offered, with entry valid for a whole day, but you need to go out to eat and return (very interesting option to enjoy everything with calm). Museum is has its own restaurant and a small shop. A public car park is located next to the Museum.

  • The thought of an archeological museum wasn't instantly appealing so it took several trips to Alicante before I got around to it. As soon as you walk into the lobby it is apparent that this place has had money spent on it. And once in the low light and hushed atmosphere of the main museum, rather than the expected rows of traditional glass cases, the exhibits were arranged thematically in a series of galleries which were very well presented. There were several displays and much use of audio-visual. Highly recommended - and a much less dry experience than I had feared. Don't be put off! (Lovely big Christmas Tree outside in December)
  • If you like museums and culture...then this is a must....only 3 Euro's to get in.Great value for money.
  • Small but extremely well presented museum. Very atmospheric exhibitions that are intelligently and cleverly put together. The mock ups of archaeological sites are brilliant. The viking exhibition was great. Works for both kids and adults.
  • Very lovely place to see lot's of things. The archaeological sets are incredible combined with the audio description. Very very clever. Worth a visit and you cab hide from the hot sun ☀
  • Interesting expitition about the area. Need more English texta. Lovely setup in museum.
