  • Majestic and impressive, stands out on top of Alcala. Very well preserved, easily accessible despite the height that is. Thanks to the audio guide that you give in the entrance (included in them 6€ that costs) and the flat detailed, the visit is makes very comfortable and well explained. The total duration is 2 hours, at a calm pace and including the (highly recommended) 20 minute film that exposed in the Abbey Church.

  • I love the castles and the Fortaleza de la Mota does not disappoint. Large, good preserved and plenty of architectural remains. Also if you are visiting on holidays for a supplement of € 2 off the normal rate (€6) will visit some amazing underground mines. The visit is guided and highly recommended. The views from the tower and the main terrace overlooking the olive groves on the one hand and the town of Alcala on the other are fantastic. Finally the Abbey Church is a tersoro.

  • Great. Really enjoyed the hilltop. You can also then drive though town to the hills opposite for a view back.
  • La Mota is like the Alhambra without the crowds. After years of work and millions of euros of investment La Foraleza de la Mota is the proudest landmark of Alcala. It has looked after the town for centuries, and will continue to do so for many more.
  • The best time to see it is probably in the morning or before the sunset. We were happy to see the village from the fortress while everything was still in mist :)
  • Beautiful, interesting, well preserved/restored and cheap (6€). Expect a 2 to 3h visit. Great place!
  • Very well-preserved castle, it's bigger than it seems (3-4 hours/visit).
