  • They surprised the gorges and the location of the village. It is worth to deviate a few km. It is more attractive in summer carrying the Jucar water.

  • On a rock basin, on a penalty Alarcón,... on a rock Alcalá. All about the meanders of the river Júcar, what do you have penalties that always in them all peoples want to install?, it will be spell or is it coincidence? Alcala del JUCAR has become the natural enclave in the region of the Manchuela (the region between the plains of La Mancha and the Serranía de Cuenca) and is considered to be one of the most beautiful of Spain. This people is perches in a rock on the river that you da name, their houses scale by she or is dig in it land and ascend until the castle of origin Arabic (to which must part of its place name "to the-Qa' it") that presides over the view, the village and the river. The Júcar Canyon cuts sliced at its base, as a cake of limestone which gives it a peculiar appearance. The tour should continue for its network of streets to the parish of St. Andrew, one of the most significant buildings of the population, construction of unique and very long, built between the 16th and 18th centuries. Following the descent we reach the beautiful bridge over the Júcar, from the 18th century. The caves of the town are renowned for their multiple uses, nesting of pigeons, stables and natural pharmacies. But of particular interest are the tunnels of the bars as Masago cave or cave of the devil. In the vicinity we find locations like Jorquera (perched on a high in the Gorges of the river Júcar, with its castle Almohad vigia) and Fuentealbilla (today most famous as birthplace of footballer Andrés Iniesta that by their salt from Roman times). And far away, Alpera, surprises us with two gems: well the snow and, above all, by the old cave, that some consider it the cave of Altamira and the Levantine prehistoric art of schematic painting, a mysterious place that, in 1924, was declared a national historic-artistic monument and in 1998 was awarded the UNESCO World Heritage title. And this is the beauty of the MANCHUELA, which covers physics and historically peoples Cuenca, Albacete and Valencia, and that navigates between two rivers, the Júcar and the Cabriel. A place to return as a Quijotuelo...

  • It was a pleasant surprise, I had very good references but the reality was even better. A charming place to spend 1 or 2 days, spectacular scenery and amazing places. Varied cuisine of the area at adequate prices.
