  • It is an option, please do not compare it with the great of Spain because it makes no sense. The Museum and the cloisters are interesting.

  • Alcala means Castle in Arabic, is a beautiful and rich city, world heritage of UNESCO, with important and prominent buildings. On the basis of a walled Roman city, a city in the environment of a large University promoted by Cardinal Cisneros in the era of the Catholic Kings (1498) expanded. In this city were two important figures in the history of Spain: Miguel de Cervantes, author of the Quixote and Catherine of Aragon, daughter of the Catholic monarchs, one of the 6 wives of Enrique VIII of England. Buildings more important of this city are: the Cathedral master (of payment) (in whose crypt recently is sought the remains of Cervantes to its 500 years). Museum (free admission) Cervantes birthplace: she was the author of Don Quixote de la Mancha, Miguel de Cervantes y Saavedra (1547). An illustrious adventurer who participated in the battle of Lepanto and veteran was devoted to literature with great success. House Museum, despite reforms and transformations with interesting construction time, preserves the furniture and the style of life of that time. It is worth visiting it. Rodrigo Miguel Cervantes's father was dentist, served in one of their rooms and retains his armchair and instruments. (Rector's Office today) promoted and founded by Cardinal Cisneros, figure the ancient University most important Catholic Church at the time of the Catholic monarchs. The Archbishop's Palace (important buildings) the Bishop of Toledo's important rank in the Church, built this imposing fortress-Palace as a sign of power. You don't visit. The Corral de Comedias; It is the oldest theater in Europe (1601) with capacity for 700 people and 150 seats. Interesting.

  • Open most of the day. Only two euro to go to the top of the tower. No English speaking staff but it is a very straightforward Church. There are audio guides available. Daily mass at 10:00 am and 7:30 pm. 1:00 pm mass during the school year. The body of San Diego de Alcala is here in the second alcove. The Statue of the patroness of Alcala is here as well, Nuestra Senora del Val.
  • Cathedral of the young Diocese of Alcalá. It brings together various of its reconstruction eclecticism after be destroyed during the Civil war during the little resources with evident enthusiasm and art of those who made it with affection. The highlight is perhaps the echo of being a temple I live with a great activity, though it is worth only go to see it. It is quite possible that the sporadic visitor is one of the many picturesque activities carried out throughout the year, such as activities of fraternities, steps, concerts or more special masses such as the consecration of new priests performed in this Cathedral

  • Alcalá de Henares downtown is the main tourist area of our city and the magisterial Cathedral is one of the main tourist centers of the city in the middle of the Santos Niños square. It is a tiny but very picturesque Cathedral which cannot be see if you come to visit the city

  • Historic landmark in Alcala de Henares which have to visit it, since it is closely linked to the history of the city. There lie the remains of Justo and Pastor. But I do not understand art or architecture, nor am I religious. It is not something of interest to me
