  • do not leave to enter, yet there are private treasures that cannot be shared with the rest of the humans, a pity that this gem is only patrimony of a few. Maybe could choose an open day, a simple journey to enjoy this as imposing interior. Well it was only a suggestion.

  • Since the 13TH century refers to the houses of the archbishops of Toledo in Alcala. The current residence was born as a defensive fortress

  • The building can not visit, because it houses the offices of the bishopric. The staff, very friendly, told me that is not visiting. And I understood it perfectly. On the outside, the Renaissance façade with the great shield of cardenal-infante Luis Antonio de Borbón - 18th century - was the scene of great deeds: for example, the first meeting between the Catholic monarchs and Cristóbal Colón. Here was where the idea of discovering America. Here were born, for example, Catherine of Aragon, wife of Enrique VIII of England, or the Emperor Fernando de Alemania, brother of Carlos V. Here are housed Kings. Palace-fortress of origin medieval, protected by walls, property of the archbishops of Toledo, Lords of Alcalá until the century XIX. It housed the General archive of the Kingdom until an unfortunate fire destroyed it in 1939 - already finished the war-. The chapel of the Immaculate Conception, located in the Torreón de Tenorio can be visited, during hours of worship.

  • extremely impressive square and entrance. storks everywhere in the whole city of alcala de Henares, so also at the archbichop's Palace.
  • To visit Alcalá is a must
  • In very little space you realize the amount of important people who were born or lived in Alcala! The restoration of the buildings is made regular but the site is very nice

  • The Archbishop's Palace can not be visited. Much of it was burnt in 1939 and is in ruins. The Torreón de Tenorio, who is the tower that is to the right of the main façade offers one of the most beautiful places of Alcala in the wall that overlooks the square of San Bernardo.

  • An ideal place to visit. Palace square is ideal for disconnecting a while. There is always shadow and there is usually no people in the morning.
