  • In a pronunciation hoz del Jucar, stands on the plain and the gap of the Valley, the Crag that ALARCON, viewpoint based and defense natural where this is. It is not surprising that it was chosen from former place of settlement. But the Arabs are who raised the first fortress and it is your language where the name comes from. His haughty nature per se, is enhanced by the intervention of the man who with his hand raised their miraderos and their defenses. The Villa de Alarcon is declared historic-artistic site. From the road the Castle, which draws the rock scratching the sky and its walls, which is almost full, with its imposing Tower of homage, is left to invade through the doors that are kept: the door of the field, the dungeon door or the door of the Inn. And among its streets you can find notable churches (Santo Domingo de Silos, Holy Trinity, St. Mary) or the amazing Art Center mural painting of Jesús Mateo, located in the former Church of San Juan Bautista. Alarcón Castle is of Arabic origin, but since the 12th century earned the attention of the successive Kings of Castille, which enlarged it and reinforced. Its most famous owner was the Infante don Juan Manuel, who wrote one of the most famous texts of the middle ages at the beginning of the 14th century and within its walls: the "book of the enxiemplos of el Conde Lucanor et de Patronio". It is not a novel, but a collection of morals that tries to give advice to the reader in terms of good behavior, in good faith and to seek balance between worldly and religious duties. Castle converted into a Parador provides us with the hostel, and this quiet not to lose detail of it nor the rest of the population who kidnapped US interest among multiple samples of printed history in its streets, its churches, towers and museums, weaving the culture and memory. And nearby, the GORGES of Alarcon, a circular route of about 7 Km, little complicated and that you can enjoy this beautiful geological formation that gives US the river Júcar, there where the water has an emerald color that contrasts with the Green and grey of the rocks, creating a beautiful landscape. There where will find the Cañavate Tower, the Tower of the Alarconcillos, the Tebar bridge, etc. and essence of our conde Lucanor.

  • A March of about 3 hours in duration. Cartels says 2 h 3 min, but that fun to contemplate the views and make a photo, they need at least 3 hours. Recommended.
