Ulsanbawi Rock, Sokcho

4.7
#1 of 16 in Trails in South Korea
An hour-long hike to Ulsanbawi Rock gives you the opportunity to feel like you're standing on the edge of a knife. First you need to climb rather steep steel stairs, but after that, take your time and walk on the paved trail. On your way up you'll spot a Buddhist temple, an ideal resting place. Once you've reached the top, you'll see both sides of the steep ridge. Relax on the summit, and watch the mesmerizing landscape until you decide to go back. • Good for a day trip. Takes 2-4 hours round-trip depending on your physical ability and pace. Plenty of stairs at the end to wreck your legs if you're not prepared, but not too difficult. I've seen little kids make it up there.
  • Very good, lots of steps but worth the trek. Takes about 3 hours up and down. Could take longer. A suitable walk if you're there just for the day. Beware the fog, we went there on a rainy day and you couldn't see much. Though would be amazing on good day im sure.
  • Great small hike! View from the top is beautiful!
  • The climb to ulsanpawi is most worth. Tiring ascend ~2 to 2.5h
  • It took 5 hours round trip to do Ulsanbawi trail, some people only need 3 hours. Depend on your strength. Total 6 km round trip with up and down step. So exhausted but believe me you will regret it if you don't do it, because the victory is so sweet, and the scenery is amazing. Tips: bring enough water and don't spend much, because on top only one seller who sells tea and is expensive.
