The oldest Zen temple in the world, Sinheungsa serves as a pilgrimage destination for believers from all over the globe, as well as a popular tourist site. You can take a cable car or go by foot through the intact nature to reach the architectural marvel of the temple which, because of its colorful, intricate design, is often considered work of art. See the painted and engraved walls and sculptures, of which the bronze statue of Buddha stands out as the most significant. If you're lucky, you might get to see some clothes belonging to a famous monk, which appear on display every once in a while.   • The mountain is so large in clause was a walk up and down. Every once in a while look for the historic but must place

  • At thr foot of the national park the temple allows you great views of the mountains. It also has an extremely large Buddha statue that is worth seeing in its own right.  more »

  • A beautiful temple in good location. It is near the cable car station and my old family members were happy to find out that they dont have to walk too long.

The accommodations of Sokcho are split between the city and the national park. The main urban area lies close to the sea; here, luxury and standard hotels and budget-friendly hostels provide good access to the beaches along the coast, as well as the restaurants and bars of the city center. Inland, you'll find a solid mix of resorts, hotels, and hostels in the national park, particularly close to the hot springs and skiable areas.
