4.0
#56 of 534 in Things to do in Seoul
Seoul City Hall actually comprises two buildings: the first, a modernist feat of architecure displaying glistening, glass curves resembling a large wave and the second, a Renaissance-style stone building dating to 1926. Out front, an oval lawn hosts events and festivals. Forty-eight lights encircle the lawn, which also contains a round outer-wall clock and a water fountain with 35 underwater lights. Head inside the older building--which now serves as a library--to check out its collection of 200,000 books. Plan trip to Seoul with our itinerary maker to find out where to go and what to do.

  • Watch this and I had the opportunity to visit the City Hall in a few clicks. During the time the library often. I went last week. The library is open on weekdays from 9 am to late, because young people. Not just a library closed on Monday Downer. Personally, of the building in the Seoul City Hall rumor going in the annex. Not a good prospect for executives, Cafe coffee drink time and true virtue Kotobuki shrine. As rumors of the Seoul City Hall annex across the street at the Dolder to recommended.

  • Seoul City Hall is similar to the art object, and it's cool! But the exterior-this is not all! The Interior is more fun! Inside, you can engage in very competently guided, which any visitor can spend for himself. To do this, in the lobby of City Hall there is a booth with brochures in different languages describing the route for tourists: exhibitions of bonsai on the ground floor to the reception of the head of the city. By the way, you can leave a note on the sticker with the wishes-suggestions for the Mayor. We visited the City Hall Sunday, totally forgot about that this weekend. The main entrance was closed, and we thought that we will be able to see the famous "green wall with living plants only through the glass. But the hospitality of Koreans and here we were surprised. Rare employees (well, not Workaholism is it coming to work in Sunday?), which came in the door for business cards, kindly invited us to enter, and the guards looked peaceful as we take pictures on the background green walls and shhupaem plants, to make sure their naturalness. That's incredible? Tour of the gosuchrezhdeniju at the weekend from photography. For other city-maybe, but not for Seoul!

  • This is a really cool city hall! It's actually more of an art gallery. There is even a small excavation site inside. It seems like there are constantly events going on inside and outside. When I went, there was a concert in the field next to the city hall which was a lot of fun. This is probably the most interesting city hall that I've been to.
  • Central spot that I can start my city tour. There is always event at front of this building. The architecture looks amazing.
  • Very beautiful city hall, free entrance to it, you can climb to the top floor of the elevator and walk along it, many green plants, very eco-friendly, unusual and beautiful
  • I personally don't have to use the city hall for it's intended purposes, but damn it's a pretty building to look at.
  • Great park in front of the City Hall itself which looks a giant wave cresting. Should definitely be part of your walking itinerary around the centre of the city.

Where to stay in Seoul

The Seoul metropolitan area has two districts especially appealing to backpackers--Jongno just northeast of the city, and Hongdae to the west. Both offer good shopping and dining, as well as easy transport links to the rest of the city. Mid-range options may prove difficult to find in peak season (July to August), unless you don't mind staying at a traditional hanok guesthouse, where loads of character make up for any lack of amenities. Finally, a range of top-end hotels with an impressive list of services and facilities lie scattered around the city.
