Where to stay in Seoul

The Seoul metropolitan area has two districts especially appealing to backpackers--Jongno just northeast of the city, and Hongdae to the west. Both offer good shopping and dining, as well as easy transport links to the rest of the city. Mid-range options may prove difficult to find in peak season (July to August), unless you don't mind staying at a traditional hanok guesthouse, where loads of character make up for any lack of amenities. Finally, a range of top-end hotels with an impressive list of services and facilities lie scattered around the city.

  • It's a really cool experience for being free. You get to see all the latest and greatest that Samsung has to offer. It's very interactive. There's also a store in the lower level you could buy just about anything Samsung but be prepared to pay a pretty penny. If you are in the area I would say you should totally check it out. Shouldn't take more than an hour to get through the place.
  • Quiet place with enough demo equipment to try out. The wristband with interaction on some devices is also nice. Didn't know they actually sell paper notebooks with the Samsung logo on it downstairs. Don't forget the Samsung ballpoint pen to match.
  • Samsung's D'light showcase/store is a great place to not only purchase some of the latest gadgets, but also look at what the future might hold in terms of technology. Everything about the showroom screams high-tech, from the (what I assume to be) NFC wristbands you wear to interact with the exhibits, to the futuristic glimpses at what our tomorrow might look like. Whether you're a fan of Samsung or not, it's a unique window into technology that's definitely worth a visit.
  • Very boring and showcasing useless features. Expected experimental technologies, but got a bland personality 'discovery'. Only go if you are super interested in Samsung to the point of fanboy.
  • This place has added a few features since we went in 2014. We visited June 2017 and when you enter you have a machine take a photo of you and an interactive wrist band which you use to scan on the attractions. It personalised your experience and uses Samsung's latest tech to show you what sort of person you are. Really fun, you can still wander around the showroom looking at various products, e.g S8 phones and Smart Home. There is a shop on the lower level and toilets. Staff are very friendly and explain the process when you enter. Really cool :)
