Haneul Park, Seoul

#12 of 69 in Parks in Seoul
Park · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
Part of a larger site built to commemorate the 17th FIFA World Cup, the lofty Haneul Park affords panoramic views of the site and mountains beyond. The park was actually built on a 15-year-old landfill site, which held 92 million tons of garbage. Haneul Park was built on the highest mountain of trash, which has been utterly transformed into a verdant hill, covered in various trees and flowering shrubs and grasses. Check out the various viewing platforms as you take the walkway to the top of the hill, and look out for the five wind-powered generators that feed the park its energy. • The park offers 360° view of Seoul and the Han. Worth noting is how the park came about. From being a landfill to becoming an attraction tells us that nothing is impossible with political will and...  more »
  • If you do not wish to attempt 291 stairs or long hilly walk up to the top of the park, you can take the golf-cart shuttle service departing from the park entrance at a small charge (1 way 2,000 won...  more »
  • Of course I am here in winter so grass in brown and bot much color. However, it also meant that it was deserted and felt like I had the whole park to myself. I started from the World Cup Stadium and.....  more »
  • Beautiful park to visit, and It’s nice to have a chance to catch a glimpse of cosmos flower mini park. I love it. If you don’t like to walk then better you buy a round trip transport with mini electric car or if you prefer to hike then make sure you wear comfortable shoes.
  • It's just silver grass. However, for some reason I love it there. Nice place to take pictures. Even wedding photos. Don't settle for just anywhere. Instead, look around for tall grass instead. You can take shuttle bus to go up or the 291 stairs.
  • A magical place during autumn. Situated by the World Cup Stadium in Seoul, this place can get very crowded on the weekends. Take public transportation if you don't want to deal with the droves of cars wrestling for limited parking spots by the park. It's also a great place to walk your canine companions if you have them! 😁🐶
  • This park is beautiful in every season. If you are looking for a place to picnic, exercise or just take pictures this is a must visit.
  • Too bad we went at wrong timing after most of the plant was trimmed. Nonetheless, it’s worthwhile to visit this place, away from the city. Climb all the way up to gaze the city view.
