Cheonggyecheon Stream, Seoul

4.1
#1 of 157 in Nature in South Korea
Historic Walking Area Water Body
See how a successful eco-friendly urban renewal project created a popular tourist spot at Cheonggyecheon Stream. Before the nation's rapid economic development after the war, the district stood as a neglected waterway secluded by an overpass. However, after the renovation and beautification project, it evolved into a modern public recreation space and a haven for natural habitats. Inspect the passing stream from one of two historic bridges--Gwangtonggyo and Supyogyo--and see how it teems with animal and plant life amid a highly urbanized city. You'll find many shops and small businesses here; feel free to pay them a visit and purchase their goods, souvenirs, or services. Put Cheonggyecheon Stream on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Seoul trip builder.

  • If you are tired or overheated or just want to posozidat-need to go to the river and relax! Under each bridge are specially equipped places, bridges signed. And in the evening, closer to the Center, incredible beauty.

  • Very nice to the Cheonggyecheon in Seoul to visit if you are! This itself landscaped piece of nature in the middle of the hustle and bustle, causes you to forget all the hustle and bustle of the city! Wonderful walk along the water, where you encounter different people and also in the evening it is nice to here. The path is completely lit! Definitely worth it to go! Tip: for example, to combine with a visit to the National Folk Museum of Korea! Also very nice that you can go to.

  • A lot of the time when the appointment from the GA always walk along the stream for non-. Are neatly maintained and everyone to walk lightly. But not enough to bother saying a tourist destination for foreigners and you'll never have to go.

Where to stay in Seoul

The Seoul metropolitan area has two districts especially appealing to backpackers--Jongno just northeast of the city, and Hongdae to the west. Both offer good shopping and dining, as well as easy transport links to the rest of the city. Mid-range options may prove difficult to find in peak season (July to August), unless you don't mind staying at a traditional hanok guesthouse, where loads of character make up for any lack of amenities. Finally, a range of top-end hotels with an impressive list of services and facilities lie scattered around the city.
