Bugaksan Seoul Fortress, Seoul

4.6
#42 of 106 in Sightseeing in Seoul
Landmark Tourist Spot
An oasis of nature surrounded by storied old walls, Bugaksan Seoul Fortress represents the perfect spot to escape from the bustling city. Scenic views of the city from different points make climbing the stone stairs worthwhile, while the fresh air from nearby mountains adds a natural touch to the experience. Make sure you bring your passport, as the military officers guarding the fort require some sort of ID for you to enter. This is a measure to prevent violent incidents, which have occurred at the site in the past. • A good place to end the easy tracking in the city or district directly into downtown Seoul, connected to the rear may not go away for all the grass like Cruz and an easy-to-track in the city busy urbanites recommend

  • But will the hiking trails were open to the public since 2006, so I go. I went in October 2016. Yon-SAMA has passed, get off at the hyehwa station (but did not graduate from) that went up in the campus of Sungkyunkwan University. It is interesting to visit the Sungkyunkwan University, old buildings still remain, so there. Walk way, aiming towards Garyu Park. From there, climb mountains along the walls. Arrived first, at horse Rock Guide, so we get permits, passports. You will see from there, just walk along the ramparts and subei Yasushi gate (gate of Tohoku University). Also, just walk and arrive at Akiyoshi gate. I think it took about 3 hours. Along the way, there are security people and soldiers. Towards the Blue House, it seems you can't photograph. Because there is a bus stop near the gate, Gyeongbokgung Palace Station immediately home.

Where to stay in Seoul

The Seoul metropolitan area has two districts especially appealing to backpackers--Jongno just northeast of the city, and Hongdae to the west. Both offer good shopping and dining, as well as easy transport links to the rest of the city. Mid-range options may prove difficult to find in peak season (July to August), unless you don't mind staying at a traditional hanok guesthouse, where loads of character make up for any lack of amenities. Finally, a range of top-end hotels with an impressive list of services and facilities lie scattered around the city.
