Banpodaegyo Bridge, Seoul

3.5
#33 of 106 in Sightseeing in Seoul
Bridge Tourist Spot
Observe the spectacle of dazzling lights, spraying water jets, and music coming from the world’s longest bridge fountain at Banpodaegyo Bridge. Evoking images of waving branches and leaves of willow trees during the day, and lighting up as a rainbow when the sun goes down, the bridge features 380 water jets and 200 lights. Watch rainbow-colored water jets dance to classical, jazz, a capella, and brass band music. The fountain forms part of the upper deck of the first South Korean double-deck bridge, while the lower deck submerges into the water as the river rises during the rainy season. Put Banpodaegyo Bridge and other Seoul attractions into our Seoul vacation builder, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Nice water fountain bridge, I went on a Friday night to Hangang Park to see the water display. There were market stalls, food stalls and music. The atmosphere was great with a lot of people there eating, drinking and just having fun. Worth a visit if you're nearby, but check the timetable so you dont miss the show.
  • Banpo Bridge is situated at a 10 minute walk distance from Express Bus Terminal Station, It is famous for its rainbow fountain show. The first show is at 8pm, then 830pm and at 930pm. This place is crowded with young people, a good place to get some beer from convenience stores around the park area and just chill with friends. Might get a little bit cold at night but you can then give a hug to the person next to you!
  • Extremelly interesting experience. Worth visiting. Time of the show: -19:30 -20:00 -21:00 (During the day it is off)
  • An absolutely stunning bridge that must be enjoyed at night. Get a blanket. Relax in Banpo Park. Have food delivered by moped. Enjoy the live bands. Get drunk. Be in awe of the kind of night only South Korea can provide.
  • Upper and lower bridges, both accessible to the public for walking/biking. South end on the lower bridge has a bit of a carnival feel most nights of the week, with people selling beer & food, and some locals doing bicycle tricks. It's a popular bicyclist gathering place. Banpo Bridge also does a water fountain and light show several times every night. Many people come to watch and take photos.

Where to stay in Seoul

The Seoul metropolitan area has two districts especially appealing to backpackers--Jongno just northeast of the city, and Hongdae to the west. Both offer good shopping and dining, as well as easy transport links to the rest of the city. Mid-range options may prove difficult to find in peak season (July to August), unless you don't mind staying at a traditional hanok guesthouse, where loads of character make up for any lack of amenities. Finally, a range of top-end hotels with an impressive list of services and facilities lie scattered around the city.
