Soesokkak Estuary, Seogwipo

#6 of 19 in Nature in Seogwipo
Water Body · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
Take a laid-back cruise on a traditional wooden boat, or ride a water bicycle across the surface of Soesokkak Estuary. Originally named “lying down ox” or "Soedun" in Korean, the estuary offers interesting views of curious lava formations overgrown with pine trees. Watch “tewoo” (large traditional wooden rafts) being hauled across the estuary by a rope strung between the riverbanks, or ride on a transparent kayak, allowing you to see what’s beneath the water's surface. Stroll on the black sand beach along the lazy river, where the fresh water meets the ocean. Head to the beach cafe and taste the mandarin and orange ice cream, a local specialty made using fruit grown in the area. • it was such a beautiful place.
  • Beautiful black sand beach. And there is a rafting place here across the narrow streams. Though during my visit (June 2018) the rafting place was closed, and it has been closed for quiet some time
  • The deep fried soft shell crabs, abalones was so yummy!
  • Where the fresh water meets the sea. Close to the start of olle trail 6. Quite picturesque. If you want oranges there's a citrus centre. I went early before all the tourist shops opened and it was quiet with few people.
  • This is a famous valley of jeju island in the south Korea
