At the center of Jeju Island lies Halla Mountain, a designated nature reserve which contains hundreds of cone-shaped volcanos surrounding the main mountain. Famous for its diverse ecosystem due to changes in altitude and temperature, the park shelters 1,800 species of identified plant life and 4,000 species of animals. Go on a hiking trip of 10 km (6.2 mi) to explore the natural haven, or you can even head to the mountain top with no terrain difficulties. Bear in mind that the weather unpredictably changes, so make thorough preparations, especially before ascending to the peak. Using our custom trip planner, Seogwipo attractions like Halla Mountain can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

The routes to the top can be hard one route with lots of steps up is very steep most of the way. Both routes are uneven and it does take 5/6 hours to do. Make sure you carry water. more »

Such an awesome sight. Hallasan is truly beautiful. Whether you are there for a hike or visiting the parks, the place is beautiful and the ride was pleasant. Roads are well maintained and signboards are clear so driving up as a foreigner is not an issue at all. If you are hiking, the entrance is free but parking is not.

Mt. Halla is the best mountain in Korea. Better pick a nice weather day and start to climb really early in the morning to look down all the scenary. They close down in the middle of the path at 2PM. If you start the longest course around 7~8 you'll be back by the afternoon. Not recommended for kids, it's a lot of walking.
