Heyri Art Village, Paju
Less than 6 km (3.5 mi) from the North Korean border, you'll find the unlikely Heyri Art Village, a vibrant community of over 370 working artists. Between them, these architects, painters, writers, and musicians have created a manicured trove of unusual structures, streets, and suprising sights. Among the stark architecture you can expect to see unexpected sculptures, juxtaposed with ornate gardens and dilapidated retro rides. Look out for the "Farmer's Table," a restaurant used as a filming location in one of Korea's best-loved dramas, "Boys Before Flowers". You can see all this before even entering the township's abundant art galleries, displaying everything from traditional paintings to sculptures made of chocolate.
