  • Beautiful village to visit in the morning under a bright sun it is very pleasant to walk among the traditional houses and cottages. Not to be missed under any circumstances.

  • The 16th century buildings are interesting and the village, with its thatch-roof houses as well, is set beautifully within the hills. However, Yangdong was a disappointment to us because all one can r...  more »

  • When I was first told of this place. I thought. Wow that’s interesting. But once I arrived. I started getting this feeling that it may not be all that I thought it was going to be. The entrance fee was reasonable enough. After all they need to maintain and keep this place up. Beautiful murals on the wall depicting what life may have been like. It was interesting. But then that’s where things ended for me. They have beautiful hanoak houses here. And if you ignore the modern finishes like paved roads or light posts. It’s easy to imagine that your in the past. But sadly. As it is still residential areas. And people actually do live here. It’s understandable that most areas are off limits. You can see from outside. And maybe get into the first entrance but beyond that is restricted. Now considering that. It was pretty plain. And the city of gyeongju had better examples and much more open places to see. Is it worth the price they charge? Undecided. But would I go back or recommend it? No.
  • Neither one thing or the other really. Not sure what their aiming for. The history is without doubt here but the implementation is inconsistent. People actually live here, with all modern conveniences, which is cool but does distract somewhat from the historical views. A traditional house with appropriate roof design and building materials, plus a satellite dish and plastic ice cream sign. They really should choose, you want it to be an attraction, fine, go Disney and theme and hide the ice cream so it's there but with traditional signage. Or, carve out a sizable section where people don't live and get some actors in with period costume as many historical sites do globally. As it is, if your passing, stop for a few quick photos but don't plan your day around here. Not enough to see.
  • A good place to understand history and culture of South Korea
  • It is beautiful, but it doesn't look like a real village, more like an open air museum. One house to the others aren't very close to each other. I went there on a rainy day, still look nice but shoes got all wet and the tickets office was closed maybe it's free because the bad weather or maybe it's always free entrance, I don't know.
  • open-air museum with a few notable historical houses from the past to observe. while i can imagine the abundance of history in this village, i don't really appreciate the entry fee that's charged for this place, since it doesn't particularly look like the money is being used to maintain the landmarks.
