Songdo Beach, Busan

4.3
#6 of 33 in Beaches in South Korea
Beach Nature / Park
Opened in 1913, Songdo Beach was Korea's first official beach and affords plenty of soft sand and picturesque views of the surrounding pine groves and ocean. Often quiet and peaceful, the beach was frequently damaged by hurricanes, and has recently undergone a five-year overhaul. The now expanded beach has ample room for beach games, inviting water for swimming, and also harbors a walkway allowing you to stroll out over the water. Look out for the statue of a breaching whale out in the middle of the bay (a novel photo opportunity), and consider dining in one of the seafood restaurants in the immediate surrounding area. Put Songdo Beach on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Busan vacation trip planner.

Where to stay in Busan

Established as a domestic tourist destination for a long while now, you'll find a good set of accommodations in Busan, a city becoming more and more equipped to cope with its burgeoning international reputation. Around Seomyeon station and slightly further to the northeast lie some of the most established options, with an abundance of hotels, hostels, and guesthouses in this highly commercial district. Head to the Haeundae beach district for a range of beachfront options, and more budget-friendly guesthouses in the side streets that lead away from the beach.

  • Had to take a taxi from Jagalchi Station. Still a nice beach. Didn't had time for the skywalk :( good to relax. Doesn't have bars around like Gwangalli or Haeundae, more like a low key place  more »
  • lots of residents here or locals no one is wearing 2 piece bikini here go to walkway nearby with small cave  more »
  • The last part of the skywalk is not wheelchair friendly and so I went about 3 quarter way. Nevertheless, it's still has the nice view that was expected.  more »
