One of the largest malls in its part of the world, Gateway Theatre of Shopping contains all the major international retail stores, as well as a vast variety of entertainment and recreational facilities. Once a sugar cane plantation, the family-friendly compound propelled the city's commercial and residential development the moment it opened in 2001. Mug and Bean used to be one of my favorite places to go for that home tasting comfort food we all crave at time. We visited Mug and Bean at Gateway Theatre of Shopping late this afternoon. My spouse has the chocolate cake with ice-cream which was a large serving and she enjoyed. I ordered the gourmet burger, BBQ Cheddar, which was somewhat of a disappointment, the pattie was 100% beef which I could taste, and done medium rare for flavor. The cheese did not have and BBQ flavor to it. Besides the bun being egg washed to give it shine there was nothing gourmet about it. I am fully aware of the increase in food prices these days but to be charged R33.00 for a tiny can of coke, you know those ones that are thin 330ml is daylight rip off. And to top it the straw that you are served with is biodegradable but when inserted into the can of coke it causes a reaction and the coke fizzles over spilling have your can onto the table. It's as if the cam of coke was shaken before the serve you. This happened twice, they replaced the first. I did not worry about the second time. The friendly waitress cleaned it up, went and spoke to the manager about the problem and he admitted that the straw was the cause. Now, if you as the Manger know that there is a problem with something do not serve it. Not recommend.

It goes without saying that Gateway is the place to be. It's a beautiful experience for anyone at any age. As a mom I love seeing my children thoroughly enjoy themselves there, I actually get to rest seeing them being okay without me. I love Gateway it is a very beautiful and well looked after mall. You won't regret it I promise ❤️

Still a favorite of the Durban mall experiences. Rightly so, loads of good stores, great location, decent surrounding activities, close to the wonderful umhlanga beaches and clean/pleasant atmosphere. Be ready for some patience in parking driving around or to the mall during peak periods as it is a highly frequented property. Worth the time though. Always a pleasure 👍🌅

As one of the biggest malls in Durban, the Gateway Theatre of Shopping fulfil my expectations. It has so many floors and offering tremendous amount of stores. It's a very nice way to exercise while shopping. Enjoy the view and explore the mall next time you visit or go shopping. It is simply astonishing.

An excellent shopping and entertainment mall with restaurants, food court, branded shops, arcade, cinema and more. Uber drops and picks up at main entrance without any issues. Definitely recommend anyone visiting Durban.
