The Palace of the Lost City, Sun City

4.5
#4 of 32 in Outdoors in North-West Province
Take on The Palace of the Lost City, which combines a challenging course with an impressive design. Created by South African golfing figure Gary Player, the 18-hole, par 72 course has various themed areas, including hilly terrain, desert, and parkland. The course has become particularly well known for its water obstacles, with the hazard on hole 13 offering a rather unusual challenge: the presence of 20 live Nile crocodiles. In addition to the course, a driving range and pro shop serve first-timers and experienced golfers alike. • Although buggies provided it was good to have a caddy who are most knowledgeable and would recommend having one. Very good course with some very interesting holes. Keep your eyes open! Lovely half...  more »
  • Great golf course. But you must stay on the fairway as the rough is very difficult to get out! Lots of birds and animals to see.  more »
  • Some very exciting holes and an added attraction of the discounted price for 9 holes plus a cart after 3pm xx Terrific views back to the Lost City!!  more »

  • Exquisite location, stunning hotel. Quite amazing what was achieved with the environment. Came here to attend a wedding and everything about the location and set up, the staff, the reception, very well executed. It's an exclusive location, certainly not affordable to all, but if you're able to splash out, it will be most memorable. Recommended if you want an unforgettable vacation or break.
  • No complimentary coffee for tourist guides. Nice setting, but I expect better service from one of the better hotels. I'm sitting outside with another guide and we just want to leave already. Dear Sun, Please look after the team.
  • Always a good experience. Pool is beautiful and service has improved a lot. Rooms are spacious and ours - overlooking the pool - was beautifully bright and airy. But whole building could do with an update soon ...
  • Beautiful place (palace) we were there not long after the storm. A sterling job all around with the Clean up. The rooms needed a bit of attention. Beautiful copper looking loo roll holders but a cheap plastic spindle the loo roll ended up on the floor EVERY time. Breakfast was amazing. The staff were excellent but had shoddy, dirty uniforms. Not expected at such a prestigious hotel.
  • Dining staff were very good and hospitable but what left a sore taste in my mouth was after a long hot walk from the valley of the waves my partner needed a glass of water. there was a table with lots of water and she was refused a glass. we paid a lot of money for 3 rooms and refused a glass of water by rude staff . will choice somewhere else to stay in the future
