#1 of 12 in Childrens Museums in South Africa
Hailed as the country's oldest botanical garden, Stellenbosch University Botanical Garden shelters an enormous collection of both indigenous and introduced plant species. Founded at the beginning of the 20th century, the garden serves an educational purpose and serves both the students and the general public. Look for bonsai trees, ferns, succulents, insectivorous species, and medicinal plants, then head to the visitor center to purchase books, seeds, and various garden-related products or to the restaurant in the middle of the garden. • Very nice place to relax. Beautiful nature and well looked after. Everything thing is maintained and in order and so clean. There is no entrance fees, they just ask you to sign in. They have a restaurant as well and they do sell plants as well. It is nice to sit and read a book and have an ice-cream on a hot day. A little breakaway form the busy town.
  • A BEAUTIFUL place and a must see! Love to stroll through the gardens and enjoyed the coffee shop too. Also a lovely shop with a variety of things to buy and a stunning Bonsai collection
  • Beautiful place to clear your head. A must for any nature lover. :)
  • It's a small area filled with manicured and beautiful plants as well as a flow of people. Walk one direction and you reach the busy street and another you reach a busy restaurant. There is no where to escape and listen to the birds, or relax and read a book. The plants are all very interesting but you are surrounded by cameras and security. If you are looking for a place to go for a run this isn't it, or if you want a private picnic, it's disappointing. If you want a restaurant with interesting and beautiful plant life, an entrance fee and tight security then you will have the right expectations.
  • Absolutely amazing area. It's incredible what's in the small area of this garden. It's beautiful and mesmerising. Worth a visit
