Vilakazi Street, Johannesburg

3.9
Landmark · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
Once the residence of two Noble Prize winners, Vilakazi Street stretches for only 1 km (0.6 mi) but boasts more than its fair share of history. Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu lived here, but the street shot to fame as the site of Hector Pieterson's shooting, which sparked the 1976 riots. The street's most famous attraction can be found at number 8115-- Nelson Mandela house, now a museum.
