Klein Constantia, Constantia

#11 of 33 in Wineries in Cape Town
Visit Klein Constantia, a vineyard and winery with an enviable location and interesting history. First established here in 1685 because of the quality of the soil and the cool ocean breezes, the winery produced a naturally sweet Vin de Constance, which became popular with writers, rulers, and the aristocracy during the 18th and 19th centuries--until a wine blight devastated the vineyards. Reopened in 1986, the facility offers tours of the facilities, tastings and pairing sessions, and an onsite store where you can pick up a bottle or two to take home with you. • We rode our bikes right up to this winery in Constantia and were thrilled with how welcomed we were! Luke presented us with our wine tastings and we learned so much about the history and the process of the wine making at the Klein Constantia Estate. The wine was genuinely incredible and we had the luxury of sitting at a comfortable sofa with a bottle of their own natural spring water as we tasted the menu of wines. Nice heavy pours were definitely appreciated and we left feeling as though we were family. Great experience!
  • Beautiful and clean winery. Beautiful location right at the slopes of the mountain. We went up the mountain with a truck, to see the Vineyards. Good explanation and nice tasting.
  • Klein Constantia has a lot of history behind it, very interesting. The place is really beautiful. In the tasting room the environment is casual, and service is good. The wines are really good, we took 6 bottles, but they can ship to many other places as well.
  • They make the most amazing wines. You are greeted onto the wine estate with lush green plantation. Well kept flowerbeds picture perfect views. The Bistro at Klein Constantia is situated right next to the tasting room. Great new addition to the Klein Constantia Team. They offer a 5 wine tasting which ends of with one of the most amazing desert wines known as such for centuries @vindeconstance. You can also choose the 9 wine tasting for the more adventurous where they start you off with some bubbles. You can request a cellar tour where you are taken on a rich cultural history which will make the wines taste even better knowing how they came about. The hostesses are knowledgeable but could be a little warmer in there approach. You can also arrange for a farm tour and picnic at the dam with amazing views. Well worth a try any day of the week.
  • Tendai was awesome. Knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Great wine and atmosphere
