The Ubuntu Tree is a SASSA-appointed '7th Sacred Site of Cape Town'

http://www.sunpath.co.za/index.php/sacred-sites-map/sacred-sites-map-western-cape/tree-ubuntu.html

Over 400 years ago, a special wild fig (ficus carica) tree was planted in what is now Kloof Street. It marked along with its neighbour tree sisters the borderline of the Camissa-fed Weltevreden dam of Cape Town, where residents and visitors from afar would gather to collect their fresh water, and socialise under the shade of what came to be known as "Unabantu Nokuphila"(the tall-loving One where healing flows). Today it continues to receive and refresh friends and visitors, and support and inspire its Ubuntu Wellness Centre custodians at the Cape Town Medi-Spa. It carries a message of peace and oneness for all sentient beings, humans and animals together with the planet.

  • On holiday in January 2019 and 2020 I took the opportunity of having a number of massages by Ian. The best and most comprehensive massages I have ever had which addressed a number of issues especially in my shoulders. The advice he gave me about posture following my treatments in 2019 has resulted in changes to my lifestyle which have benefited me hugely. With any sports/deep-tissue massage it's essential to have both confidence and trust in the practitioner and I had no doubts whatsoever about Ian in that regard. A totally five star experience.
  • Very accommodating staff. Loved the floatation experience.
  • Best place to float in Cape Town!
  • Find out about the elixir of life @ UbuntuWellnessCentre!!!
  • I booked with my wife for a massage and floatation tank session. On arrival there is no welcome, just staff standing around talking looking like you've interrupted them. The floatation tank was did not agree with either my wife out I add it out strain on our necks and the fan in the room was noisy. The massage technique used on is was also worrying. Both of us had our arms bent backwards while lying on our front in order to massage or hand. I have never experienced this before and don't wish to again. Lastly for a place called Ubuntu it does not encapsulate values of human dignity. While being massaged a member of staff could be heard disciplining another. This should be done in private for the person's dignity. My wife said she was cold and was told she must be getting sick. What kind of response is that? You should never argue with a client about how they feel. If they say they are cold offer to cover them! I have not mentioned all the issues but needless to say we will not be going back.
