Lion's Head, Cape Town Central

4.9
Hike up to Lion's Head, a dramatic peak overlooking the city and offering panoramic views of Table Mountain National Park. The 669 m (2,195 ft) tall mountain lies next to the smaller, flat-topped Signal Hill, also known as Lion's Rump. You can reach the top on foot only on a relatively easy, scenic trek from Signal Hill. Although steep, the hike, suitable for children, doesn't present a challenge and will reward you with a picturesque picnic spot and viewpoint. • It has a magnificent view from there up, also held on the signal Hill tandem paragliding flights. It is quite interesting to observe them.

  • It is true that they are not particularly trained but get on the Lion's Head to the top is not easy. My son and I arrived just a few dozen meters from the Summit and we have continued because the last part is particularly insidious because the path narrows and the overhang, if minimally you suffer from Vertigo, can create problems. Anyway I recommend you go there at sunset ... Very impressive. .

  • Highly recommended moderate hike. All fitness levels. There's a short ladder to get to the peak. The ocean views are incredible from here. Also ideal for a moonlight hike.
  • Great place to hike a bit. It was only a bit exhausting because i really don:t have any training. Just be sure to take enough water and good shoes. The last part where there are even rings in the stones is the best part and watching the sunset there is unbelievable. Just take a light with you cause it gets really dark really fast. The view over the city lights at nights is astonishing. Enjoy!
  • My first time visiting this spectacular views and surroundings. Even got to see green point stadium from a different view. Really something to do and if you fit is to try out the hiking trails. Saw a few paragliding guys going down at Lions Head at Fly Sky guys. Beautiful day today, clear skies, little bit of a breeze and very hot today. Truly a awesome summer day
  • A great mountain to climb with friends when you're not yet ready to attempt table mountain. The view from the top is spectacular.
  • Simply the most convenient hike in Cape Town. It is a 45-60 minute hike depending on your fitness level and amount of breaks you take. Pretty much doable for everyone who is (still) fit. Stunning views off the top and best when done for sunrise. There is an option with ladders and chains to climb and a longer walk around that part to the top. Definetely worth it but can get very crowded with waiting times at the chains and ladders. As usual: bring sufficient water and snacks and a jacket for possible weather conditions that may change quick.
