Honiara Central Market, Honiara

(2.8/5 based on 55+ reviews on the web)
A bustling labyrinth of interesting flavors and sights, Honiara Central Market offers tourists a rare and authentic glimpse into Melanesian culture. Here you can browse through a wide range of local produce including exotic fruit, rows of gigantic, freshly caught tuna fish, and intricate arrays of the Solomon Islands' famed shell jewelry. Mostly sourced from the surrounding villages, these goods sell at very reasonable prices, and it is not customary to haggle. Bring plenty of small notes, keep one eye out for pickpockets, and bear in mind that no toilet facilities exist on site. • Its a working market, not really a tourist attraction. Was interesting to see the produce and chat to some locals.

  • A must do if your in the Honiara CBD. Excellent range of local fresh produce and fish. Need to be careful with pick pockets as you would in any marketplace.
