Cut deep between two hills overgrown with beech forests, Vintgar Gorge is full of small waterfalls, rapids, and erosion potholes. Cartographer and photographer Benedikt Lergetporer and mayor of Gorje Jakob Zumer discovered the gorge in 1891. Walk along the tourist path with narrow passages, wooden bridges, and galleries, constructed on the rocks in 1893. Listen to the roar of Radovna River echoing along the 1.6 km (1 mi) long gorge marked at the end by a waterfall plunging 16 m (52 ft). The gorge also features two manmade attractions: an arched stone railway bridge from 1906 and a dam. When you reach the end of the gorge, walk back across the meadows passing St. Catherine's church. We visited on their 1st day of reopening, April 16. Unfortunately due to construction, a few roads are closed so it is emphasized that you should take bikes or walk. We hired a local shuttle to take us there and back to Lake Bled. When we arrived at the entrance, we saw 15-20 cars had taken the same side route that we did to the main parking lot by the entrance. If you get there early, you may get lucky and a parking spot. Otherwise, I’d listen to their recommendation and take a shuttle, bike, or walk there. The gorge is well worth the visit. It took 45 min with two kids (8 & 6) to walk through. Pictures don’t do it justice. The kids really enjoyed the walk and it’s very safe and easy to do. At the end of the one way hike, you need to take a hike back to the entrance (min 45 min back), unless you took a shuttle. We took a shuttle and the pickup point was about 10 min past St Katherine church. Highly recommend doing this trip if you are staying in Lake Bled - even though it isn’t as easy as when you can simply drive your own car there.

A nature's beauty, very scenic place. Walking through the woods gives you peace and a lot of positive vibes. Good option for spending time in nature and a significant change from daily hectic times. Good place to visit with friends and family.

I recommend this place. A beautiful walk around the gorge. Keep in mind it's one way so once you enter the gorge you need to complete the full circle. There are two ways back one the easy and the other is a bit tough. I took the easy one which is all together 5KM. But the visit is worth.

Wow, what an amazing place!! Such beautiful nature, and water so clear and green! We were there right after a morning of rain so everything seemed just a little more green. It's a one-way route, so despite all the people, it doesn't feel crowded.

Very beautiful and good builted area. If you are nearly this zone, you should definitely check it out. It’s a shocking experience with a beautiful view of the water. 10/10 . One student ticket is 7€.Definitely worth it.
