National Park
Hike through the alpine mountain slopes and valleys of Triglav National Park, traversed with an extensive network of well-marked, easy to follow, and properly secured trails. The area features more than 7,000 km (4,350 mi) of marked paths. You can relax by taking easy strolls through the woods and by the lakeside, or by slowly driving through lush meadows along picturesque villages. More experienced hikers can venture on longer and more demanding trails that lead up to the towering peaks. Many mountain huts and lodges along the way offer opportunities to rest and grab a bite to eat. The river rapids and gorges make the park popular with water sport enthusiasts. • The Soča Trail (Slovene: Soška Pot) is a walk of almost 20 km in one direction, a round of walking is not possible. The 20 km is totally not comparable to the distance with us numerous times in Netherlands, the route goes up the mountain, mountain love here so good in mind. The paths are well maintained but a sturdy pair of walking shoes is required! In the summer months there is a van along the route with several stops, this makes it possible to route at various points to break down or after the 20 km to return. In april the bus not yet (only in "high season") inform so always at the Tourist Office (VVV) or the bus or not. When the bus does not run, you can always choose a part of the hike. We start at the source of the river. (the address for car navigation: Trenta, 5232 Soča, Slovenia 72, here you can also benefit from free parking!) To reach the source, you need to walk around the hotel and the Stromberg up to follow. From the source we have followed the then 6 km route (12 km round trip), here we have 5 hours. Along the way there are a lot of beautiful vantage points, Rapids, gorges, waterfalls and bridges which you regularly for a moment. When you want to run the complete route then make sure you leave early! The route is well signposted with clear signposts along the way, see the photos below. Despite the route perfect is marked with signposts just make sure you have a (free) route map at the Tourist Office (VVV), this gives a lot of notes to the stops along the way. Don't forget to make a stop at the The Mlinarica Gorge (number 5 on the map) even though this is about 10 minutes from the route, it is a very mysterious place between a gorge with a beautiful viewing platform. The entire route, but also the parking are free! (the address for car navigation: Trenta, 5232 Soča, Slovenia 72)
