Town Walls, Piran

(4.8/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Put one euro in the locked gate to access the stairs and climb to the top of Town Walls, offering views of the city and the sea. The three walls were built during the town's long history, and large parts remain well-preserved today. See the ruins of the first wall from the 7th century in the old part of the town. The third wall with its seven towers built between 1470 and 1533 is almost completely intact. As you explore the walls, look for the oldest of the eight city entrances or "gates," which dates back to the 13th century. Among other gates, pay attention to the city's best-preserved Gothic doors, constructed in 1483 by mayor Dolfin. With our world travel planner, Piran attractions like Town Walls can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Walls are a must on a clear, fine spring or winter day. It is not the best idea during hot summer day. You need at least good footwear and some energy. If you are lazy or old, go to the St. George's c...  more »
  • If you are ever in Piran should not be from the town walls. Admission 1 euro pays all failures. The view from up there is just wonderful. Park should however outside on a parking lot.

  • The ramparts of Piran are worth the detour and sweat you will let climbing markets that allow access to them all to benefit from an extraordinary perspective on the whole of the city, the sea and even the football field of the corner! Entry costs € 1 and allows to keep the place.

  • The view over Piran is the best from this place. OK, maybe also the tower next to the church can compare with it. However a tourist might welcome an information table or a plan, that would enable him to better understand what he sees before him. Be prepare to climb a bit!
  • Perfect place, nice view, romantic atmosphere... 2EUR entry fee for this beautiful view!
  • Part of original medieval town wall with beautiful view to Piran and surroundings.
  • €2 entry fee for an amazing view of Piran. Very much recommended when you're here.
  • A must visit when in Piran! You can see the whole town up from the walls. Remember to take water water with you on a hot day... There is a restaurant up in the walls, however.
