4.8/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web
Put one euro in the locked gate to access the stairs and climb to the top of Town Walls, offering views of the city and the sea. The three walls were built during the town's long history, and large parts remain well-preserved today. See the ruins of the first wall from the 7th century in the old part of the town. The third wall with its seven towers built between 1470 and 1533 is almost completely intact. As you explore the walls, look for the oldest of the eight city entrances or "gates," which dates back to the 13th century. Among other gates, pay attention to the city's best-preserved Gothic doors, constructed in 1483 by mayor Dolfin. With our world travel planner, Piran attractions like Town Walls can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Great view and free entrance (although might be a temporary thing)
  • We came at a time when there was hardly any people here so we paid the €1 entry each and has a nice stroll around. There isn't really anything to do here apart from admire the views, but they're worth it!
  • Nice place to go if you visit Piran.
  • Offering great views across the coast.
  • Great views of the city and the sea. From the top of the walls you can get a full vision of the city jutting out into the sea. For a few euros you can get access to the walls which overlook the whole city. When crowded it's a bit hard to maneuver around people, but the views are worth it.
