This is a completely unique cycling tour which differs in all regards from the world-famous Ljubljana Feminist Walking Tour. Instead of merely using your feet, in this tour, you’re kindly invited to ride the very tool and early symbol of women’s emancipation: the bicycle! The tour which premiered at the 2020 City of Women feminist festival follows the less-travelled dirt roads of the local herstory, or rather, herstories. It presents the fascinating yet often forgotten heroines of Slovenia’s women rights while taking you sightseeing outside the city centre. The Ljubljana Feminist Tour has been around since July 2017. Offering a gender perspective on Slovenia’s capital, it has become a Ljubljana mainstay. It is a popular way of learning about feminism, women’s rights and women’s history. As a co-founder of the Global Network of Feminist Tours, this initiative has inspired the creation of feminist tours in other countries including Iceland and Serbia.

Where to stay in Ljubljana

One of Europe's smaller capitals, Ljubljana offers fairly limited sleeping options, with most of its three- and four-star hotel rooms concentrated in and around the expensive city center. Travelers on a limited budget can explore the city's hostels, which offer small rooms with access to shared restrooms and common dining areas. If you need more privacy and space, rent an apartment on the outskirts of town, or check into one of the family-run guesthouses near the city's international airport.
