Vodnik Square (Vodnikov trg), Ljubljana
(4/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Stretching between the Dragon Bridge and the Triple Bridge, Vodnik Square (Vodnikov trg) is best-known for an open-air market with stalls of fruits, vegetables, fresh flowers, herbs, and meat products. Built after the 1895 earthquake in the place of an old monastery, the square is named after Valentin Vodnik--a Slovenian poet, priest, and journalist whose statue graces the plaza. Walk through the market and buy some souvenirs, local honey, or a light snack. Occasionally you can catch sight of musicians playing traditional instruments. A path across the street leads to Castle Hill. • This is a traditional local market of fruits and vegetables, which is very well organized unfortunately designed the day we visited it was raining and had few other vendors however tell us to be full especially on Saturday if I am not wrong. Esmas I commented that it is the meeting place of the local people on Saturday in the morning especially

  • Saturday morning is the best day to visit this square where they gather vendors and farmers in the nearby countryside in Ljubljana to expose fresh fruit, vegetables and local products such as homemade grappas, cheese, honey and this season freshly picked fresh mushrooms. Beautiful are also the stalls selling Christmas decorations made by hand as Laurel wreaths, dried flowers or packaging made with fresh Moss. We spent a bit of time to shoot amid the stalls invaded by the scent of oranges and tangerines snapping some pictures of fruit with many colors that I attach again. If you enjoyed this review, you can read about my many other for Ljubljana and a I'm glad a click on: is it useful?
