Tromostovje, Ljubljana

4.4/5 based on 1,700+ reviews on the web
Stylishly marking the entrance to the Old Town, Tromostovje combines a 19th-century stone bridge sandwiched between two side bridges added in 1930s. The stone bridge linking the main square with the Old Town and the market replaced an old wooden one in 1842. Due to busy traffic, the city employed the famous Slovenian architect Joze Plecnik to reconstruct the old bridge. Instead of widening it, he built two side pedestrian bridges with stairways leading down to the riverbank. The middle bridge, which used to be crossed by cars, buses, and a tram line, is today lined with benches. Look for an inscription at the base of the bridge dedicating it to Archduke Franz Charles in 1842. • a Nice little bridge or should i say three in which all cross the River Ljubljanica sometimes there is a little bit of Entertainment on there.
  • It's a bridge, what else can you say. Well it's very nice architecture set in a lovely area. Visit at night and take a photo, Ljubljana in general is lit at night better than anywhere else I've ever seen.
  • Perfect location to start an evening tour through some very fancy architecture. Nice restaurants and bars (and ATMs, should you need one) all around the bridges, along with nice people.
  • Center point of Plecnik's architectural master piece. You should start your tour of the city on the bridges.
  • This place is a living room of Ljubljana. Good starting point for a walk around a city and serves as a meeting point.
