I began by visiting the archaeological site to the Museum and then, with the same ticket (€6) I visited the Archaeological Park Christian Centre. The remains that today we can visit give an idea of how he could be the ancient Emona. In addition to early Christian Center Board to see why interesting, doing a walk of about 2 km to see remains of walls and even a piece of Roman cloaca. Most of these areas for free entry. There is much to see, but to be commended to Slovenians have been able to exploit what had remained. Well done! However each rest of antiquity is of great value and should be appreciated. Ljubljana offers this as well.

Certainly, you can admire the roman wall and a pyramid as well as graves in very good condition in the street Mirje.Si you made across the street at the end of the deadlock there is the Archaeological Park. But do not stop there. Pass under the pyramid of the Roman wall, keep the Askerceva cesta Street, cross the boulevard and head to the Park Foersterjev vrt peit, there remains, cross Rimska cesta where there are the remains of a Roman forum, then cross Gregorciceva ulica taking the small street that runs along the garden brings you to Erjavceva cesta. Take left direction Presernova cesta (Street to see besides view of the architecture of the buildings) and just before the Park Sveta Evrope, right of the ruins and left also a House, at the back of the Court. Retrace your steps and take left Ulica Josipine Turnograjske, take the pedestrian subway to Plecnikov fit right where a video of the ancient city turns as well as a model, the underground remains. At the end of the tunnel you will arrive at the Zvezda Park where you will see a Roman statue and the remains of a cemetery. Cross the Park and next to the kiosk, the remains of a lapidarium. A little to the right, in front of you the street vegova ulica, a florist makes the angle, take it to the end, there will be a column with the face of Napoleon Bonaparte above. In front of a small park, enter y to go all around the building, you will arrive in a tiny alley Krizevniska stoteska, continue in Gosposka ulica, return in Trg francoske revolucije and go left into the courtyard of the building of the Ljubljana Festival

The actual walls are reconstructions. The pyramid of stone is heavily weathered and not attractive despite being comparatively new. There is a lack of information about the wall itself. Unfortunately ...  more »

  • Lovely remains of ancient Emona. Renovated by Jože Plečnik in the 20th century, who separated new and old with a line of pebbles.
  • As I'm a fan of Roman ruins I had to go there. And even if this is only a small excavation, I would say it is worth a look. The Plečnik Pyramid, which was build in the (I think) 19. century is nicely integrated into the wall.
  • Old Roman wall transformed in a park type museum. Features some benches and some archaeological findings.
  • This wall was a part of Roman sewer. There is also a park stretching along the wall. During summer, it is a great place to enjoy the silence, but being just minutes from crowded centre. Not many people know of this, apparently. If you are more of a historian, there are signs with some text explaining the role of this wall.
  • Perfect spot for hanging out and rock climbing. Not crowded.

Where to stay in Ljubljana

One of Europe's smaller capitals, Ljubljana offers fairly limited sleeping options, with most of its three- and four-star hotel rooms concentrated in and around the expensive city center. Travelers on a limited budget can explore the city's hostels, which offer small rooms with access to shared restrooms and common dining areas. If you need more privacy and space, rent an apartment on the outskirts of town, or check into one of the family-run guesthouses near the city's international airport.
