  • Not really attractive but nice to see and imagine how it used to look in the Roman times. Best of all, it is sourounded by tranquill park so nice to walk around alone, with friends, family or dog....
  • The ancient Roman town stretched on a rectangle of 523 to 435 meters surrounded by mighty 2.40 metres wide and high stone walls 6/8 and meters, built between 14 and 15 ad, then 2000 years ago. We have been following the guided path that crosses the entire archaeological zone, located in the heart of Mirje district, starting with the Municipal Museum and running through the two most significant points with House of the city of Emona and the early Christian Centre. As you can see in the pictures square stone walls are well preserved because they were subject to frequent restorations but mainly because during the redevelopment of the Ljubljana urban planning architect Jože Plečnik in the 1930s, he worked on a series of restructuring of the walls and the Park, and in particular of the time and of the pyramid that we see in the attached photos. Visit highly recommended! If you enjoyed this review, you can read about my many other for Ljubljana and a I'm glad a click on: is it useful?

  • Partly hidden attraction is near the medieval part of the town, behind huge secondary school. It is a narrow and long park with partly reconstructed Roman wall, some antique sarcophaguses and remains....  more »

  • As I'm a fan of Roman ruins I had to go there. And even if this is only a small excavation, I would say it is worth a look. The Plečnik Pyramid, which was build in the (I think) 19. century is nicely integrated into the wall.
  • Worth to go check it out (as all roman ruims), but it misses information panels.
  • This wall was a part of Roman sewer. There is also a park stretching along the wall. During summer, it is a great place to enjoy the silence, but being just minutes from crowded centre. Not many people know of this, apparently. If you are more of a historian, there are signs with some text explaining the role of this wall.
  • Perfect spot for hanging out and rock climbing. Not crowded.
