Ljubljana Old Town, Ljubljana

Inspirock Rating:
4.8/5 based on 3,600+ reviews on the web
Walk down the cobbled streets of Ljubljana Old Town, nestled between the river and the hilltop castle. The historical center features local designer shops, cafes, and restaurants, a farmer's market, several historical bridges, and the only row of 19th-century buildings that survived the 1895 earthquake. The charming narrow lanes lead to two squares: the city square with the city hall and a copy of the 18th-century "three rivers" fountain, and the upper square. Taste local specialties, enjoy watching street artists, and take in the architectural details, such as wall carvings, sculptural decoration, or elaborate metalwork on fences and balustrades. The nearby castle and tower provide panoramic views of the city. Use our Ljubljana itinerary planner to arrange your visit to Ljubljana Old Town and other attractions in Ljubljana.

  • Had a great time just strolling through the romantic old town of Ljubljana. Lots of little shops and cafes, definitely (one of) the main places to be in Ljubljana!
  • Love this part of the city. Restaurants have good fresh food. Very safe to walk at night with many people out and stores stay open
  • It has a historic centre very welcoming, safe, nice and not expensive! Relatively flat town visit without great weariness. recommend a pizza on the street parallel to the River, next to the triangular bridge, really good:)
