Dragon Bridge (Zmajski Most), Ljubljana

Categories: Bridges, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web
Walk across the Art Nouveau Dragon Bridge (Zmajski Most) and admire the four large dragons protecting its corners, symbols from the city's coat-of-arms. Built at the very beginning of the 20th century, it was the city's first reinforced concrete bridge and Slovenia's first bridge paved with asphalt. Floral motifs decorate its arch and railings, while smaller griffins embellish the plinths of its eight bronze candelabras. Notice the dashes of red paint at the dragons' mouths and claws, recent additions by an anonymous enthusiast. • What can I say? It's slightly underwhelming, it's a bridge protected by 4 dragon statues, one in each corner, that said it makes for a nice photo opportunity.
  • It's not a ' great ' bridge, but it is worth knowing the legends involving the Dragon, symbol of the city of Ljubljana.

  • Veoma lep mali most koji ima četiri figure zmaja na četiri kraja i za koga se vezuju mnoge legende, blizu centra.
  • Curious bridge in a lovely, quite but beautiful city. If you visit Ljubljana don't hesitate to visit also Postojna Jama Cave, you'll find there 'baby dragons'! ;-)
  • Good tourist landmark with nice dragon statures along the street. For tourists would recommend spending more attention to the old part of Ljubljana especially the tri-bridge area
  • Beautiful icon of Slovenia. The statue was the first thing that I saw when I got dropped out of my blablacar.
  • It something different and a picture here is a must for people visiting! It would be a 5star thing if there werent car trafic on it, so you can chill next to the dragons :)
  • I love this bridge. One of a kind. Legend has it, that when a virgin crosses the bridge, dragons will wag their tails ;)
