  • We found this place through to tripadvisor. It is a place "particular" but beautiful, historical and suggestive.

  • This Chapel as a Memorial Chapel in the eye will be the least pre-accession traveller; It was built in memory of that - probably 300 - Russian prisoners of war, in establishing the pass by an avalanche in the 1st World War were captured and died. We have learned that the Russian prisoners themselves were's that have built the wooden chapel with their volunteer work until November 1, 1916. The chapel as a central building with two spires left and right of the entrance on stone foundations. The towers complete with a bulbous roof in the Baroque style, as is common in Russia. The construction of wood was originally with bark boards, later with wooden shingles, as well the spires and onion roof. The Interior of the Church is small and modest, only white painted. An icon of our Lady, which however disappeared after the war on the altar once stood. The altar consists of cut round wood, in a wall, which is painted in oil technology is located. In the presence of Russian spiritual and high representatives of the State, a solemn memorial mass takes place every year.

  • A holy place where the Russian soldiers are buried. Russian spirit in the chapel and the Grave of the Unknown soldier
  • Res lepa kapelica. Vredna postanka.
  • A small, beautiful and poignant monument to the many of hundreds of Russian POWs who died building the Russian Road over the Vrisic Pass. Certainly worth stopping and visiting.
  • The story, view the other side! A former prison camp of World War I, where they were detained several thousand Russian soldiers, who have contributed to the costrusione mountain pass Vršič. The "Russian church" and a Pearl set in the Woods.
