  • If you met fairies and Gnomes along the banks of rivers soča, Soča in Slovene, there meravigliereste. Because the scenario that opens past the town of Nova Gorica, following the "Emerald River" before long the Collio Goriziano, then entering in Trenta fin on the slopes of Mount Triglav, it appears stolen at a fantastic book: from the hills surrounded by vineyards (which produce the most important wines of Slovenia) and Brda descended to the city of Plave nature has an almost surreal harmony and the countries along the Valley a perfect order. From the deck of Plave the road begins to climb and the Valley becomes narrower, blurring by the sweetness of the hills to the Majesty of the mountains, with the emerald green Soča River that changes color: everything is drawn from the river and its turbulence, who dug into the rock canyons, waterfalls and small lakes, karst, a paradise for lovers of canyoning , white water rafting, Hydrospeed and river sports in General. Going up the road that winds along the banks of the Soča, towards Tolmin, within easy reach of this is Most Na Soci, country located on a rocky promontory above the confluence of Soča and Idrijca: here, the riverbed widens and forms an artificial lake crystal clear and very impressive, whose the most beautiful part is immersed in a Gorge in the mountains , visible only in the navigation with the special boat. In Tolmin are air sports to Lord it: from the mountain overlooking the town are thrown with the paragliding sport from all over Europe, that, when the weather is favourable, gather at this location to form a cosmopolitan community. Leaving to head towards Tolmin Kobarid, Caporetto, most notorious as you relive the epic and painful pages written by the story of the great war. On the mountain above the town rises the ossuary in memory of the fallen of the first Italian war, overlooking the Valley with its arcaded concentric structure in which is contained the San Antonio Church, which can be accessed via a road which has monumental stations of the cross on the edge. In the Centre of the village is the War Museum, in memory of the events which occurred on the Isonzo front, with particular reference to the twelfth battle of the Isonzo, known as the battle of Caporetto, one of the most impressive battles of the period. Is the story rebuilt in Slovenian memorial sites, of which the river is always at the Center, a testimony that wants to recall the immense devastation experienced by the Valley and of which today are not seen more serious wounds. To have a more evocative experience you can make excursions going to visit what remains of trenches and pillboxes along the three lines of the face. The climb to the headwaters of the Isonzo is then in Bovec, at the confluence between the Valley of Trenta and the Valley of Sontius, in the Centre of the Triglav National Park, where the Julian Alps are rugged peaks reaching important: this is a paradise for winter sports. Mount Kanin exceeds two thousand metres high and its lifts are open until April, when arriving at the Summit on a clear day you can ski by being able to see the reflection of the Adriatic Sea in the distance. Our enchanted journey ends at the foot of Triglav to some thousand meters of altitude, where the Soča is getting smaller and its increasingly rapid progress; a short path leads us with one last effort right at the source, where the water gushes out of the ground to form a tiny puddle that backwards along the way just described, down to the sea.

  • Color intense turquoise, crystal clear water is without doubt the essential visual attraction of Slovenia. It is possible to practice a variety of water sports and activities. Its color is more intense in the area of Kobarid.
