  • This small and inexpensive museum gives overview of the history of cheese production in the Soca valley and neighbouring mountain pastures.  more »
  • We were in Slovenia to visit my family and friends; and also to attend Metal Days. We stayed at a hotel in Kobarid, and looked forward to enjoying the town and all it has to offer. The dairy is very.....  more »
  • A complete waste of time and money. You pay 3 Euro to watch a 15 minute commercial for cheese that can be bought in the adjacent super-market. The film is in Slovenian with English sub-titles (those.....  more »
  • The place is a bit underwhelming for what you have to pay. You have to call in advance for the tasting, but they offer a lot of it. So if you plan on visiting I would recommend you call and tell them when you're comming. The cheese is amazing though so be sure to buy some in the market.
  • 3€ for a small video on how amazing and pure the dairy are in Slovenia. Although it is true (as you can confirm by tasting any of the products sold in the Planika market next to the museum), it is not really worth the - quite affordable - price.
  • The cheese from Soča Valley was mentioned in records as a means of payment in the 13th century, when it was used to pay duties to the then lords. The tradition survive thousands years and is still alive in nearby mountains in the Soča valley in Julian Alps. The Cheese museum in Kobarid shows this tradition from old past days to the present days.
  • Small museum, but very rich in information. You get a good understanding why the cheesemaking is so popular in the Kobarid area. Spend about an 45 minutes in the museum.
