  • After a short walk to the country should not miss the view to the castle which was the seat of the mining administration. The entrance costs 5 euros and the exhibition divided into various sections, on mine, on mercury, on history and finally about idrija lace. At the beginning of the visit you are accompanied and is given a good general explanation, then you can visit the wide exposure on multiple floors.

  • In Idrija everything remembers his past mining and mining of mercury, so if you want to know more you can not miss a visit to Gewerkenegg Castle seat of the Civic Museum, practically it is a path of an hour on the city's history and related mining. Unfortunately I have not had a chance to visit the Gallery Antonijev once used by miners and even the large wooden wheel kamšt according to me the most interesting things to see. For the rest the country is small and doesn't offer much about restaurants and other attractions also is an isolated place in the valleys and not very easy to reach that goes well as waypoint and beware of Backstreets indicated on navigators, you may travel on the trail for several kilometres.

  • Do not know why is called castle as there in no history related to any kind of Castle activities. Is the administrative building for mine exploitation. Despite that have nothing to do with a castle, the architecture is very nice. Minuses: no guided tours even if want to pay for(coming after Postojna); no translation for Italian as is habituated in others in that area. Pluses: a wide selection of minerals, tools and documents from the history; full process of mercury extraction very well explained; a sample of mercury safely presented.
  • Very nice castle with museum
  • 16th-century castle, was used by the owners of mercury mines as a granary and Treasury to maintain the profits of the mine. It is now a museum that collects, in separate sections, the history of mercury in Idrija and an exhibit on the thriving local lace production.
