Waterfall Savica, Bohinjsko Jezero

Categories: Waterfalls, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
3.9/5 based on 400+ reviews on the web
Bursting from the underground of the Seven Triglav Lakes Valley and cutting deep into the gorge, Waterfall Savica is the most famous Slovenian waterfall. It cascades from a height of 78 m (256 ft) over two slopes forming the shape of the letter A. The water fills a pool artificially supported by a small dam. Cross the stone bridge over the Mala Savica and walk above the gorge through meadows and woods. A little cabin-like house at the top offers views of the waterfall and the lake. Bring a raincoat if you want to get really close to the waterfall to avoid getting drenched by the spray. • Almost to the falls can be reached by car, Park at the restaurant and occur during 15-20 min. to the Hill after the "stairs" to the falls. Input 2.5 E/person, any small dog (1E). We came out of Stara Fužina, around the Lake in a straight path. We on one side, sometimes sat with him (very beautiful) and proceeded to light up a nature trail through the Woods, to the said restaurant. Most people commute by car to the restaurant and in October there were more people than we would like. Back we went after the other side of the Lake back to Stara Fužina (goes around the road from Ukanc over Ribčev Laz) isn't as nice as the first page. Everything is very well signposted terrain. Day trips for us. (approx. 20 km in total)

  • In Slovenia's only national park, this waterfall is a headline attraction 30 minute drive from Lake Bled. The park is rustic and has the trailhead to many hikes and alpine climbs. This particular walk...  read more »
  • Amazing view and short hike that was pleasant. Good views on the way as well. 3 euros entry ticket which is not too high price
  • I have been there few years ago and I was satisfied. But now - I really don't want to pay 3 € per person for an entrance to a nature. It should be paid from tourist taxes e.g. in campsites.
  • The hike to the waterfall takes about 20-25 minutes and there are quite a few stairs, but it's worth it in the end. The hike is though a beautiful forest. Worth a quick visit if you are in the area.
  • Nice waterfall with good air, not for the lazy - 560 stairs.
  • Nice place, good price, older people have to make pause.
  • Beautiful place, important Slovenian history. 554 stairs, takes about 20 minutes.
