Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Maria, Bled

Poised dramatically in a middle of the lake, Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Maria is famous for its 99 steps and its good-luck "wishing bell." The first stone church on the island was erected at the site of a pagan shrine dedicated to Slavic goddess of fertility in the 12th century. Damaged by an earthquake, the structure was restored in the Baroque style in the 17th century. Look for the remains of Gothic frescos and a 15th-century wooden statue of the Virgin Mary, which survived the earthquake. Many weddings take place on the island, and the ritual of the groom carrying the bride up the 99 steps before ringing the bell is considered good luck. Climb the bell tower to see the inner mechanisms of its clock and take in views of the lake and surrounding landscape. • Boats lined up, waiting for the incoming people lined entry and then hitting a church bell. Bell hanging on the line three times before pulling the paper rings wish said.

  • This individual church located at the Avon Centre on the small island. Outside the Church is not very special, next to the church there is a Clock towers. Special finish is most in need of the Church charged six 歐 into Gatwick serves, too 貴 person worth to pay.

  • First you pay 14 euros per person to you with a pletna to the island. There you need to enter another pay to the Church and to a cord to pull every call is replaced by the following. It feels a bit like tourists milking. Now yes, we have the children done (Church was 12 euro for our family I thought), but a "must do" I would not call it anyway.

  • Its a good place to be in an island. 4euro entry fee for you to be able to ring the bell or go inside! 14euro for the boat ride! 1hour & you must go back again!
  • An old church on the Bled island, good sightseeing and workable ancient bell .
  • This little island is pure paradise, with its gorgeous surrounding nature and attractive (&well-maintained) old church and fortress.
  • A must visit. Amazing views.
  • the only fun time i've gone to a church
