Ride a traditional wooden boat called a "pletna" or rent your own boat and row to Bled Island rising above the surface of a glacial lake. This Ice Age limestone glacial deposit covered with trees is thought to have been inhabited since prehistoric times. Archaeological excavations have uncovered traces of Slavic settlements from the 9th and 10th centuries. Legend has it that the present stone Baroque church was built on the remains of an ancient temple dedicated to the Slavic goddess of fertility. Climb the monumental 99 steps leading up to the church and ring the "wishing bell" above the church nave. • Outstanding view. Do not forget ring the bell in the church.:) The boat to the island is operating well. However how long is the boat trip depends the wind. So please ask before stepping on the boat.

  • Nothing fabulous but is a must do if you visit Lake Bled. Take a shuttle ferry out to the island or rent a boat and row out there.

  • Worth the row! We rowed across to the island and spend some time exploring, as well as getting an ice cream. We decided not to visit the church due to the cost and previous reviews, but visiting the island was a good experience itself.
  • Bled Island floating above the waters of Lake Bled for thousands of years It is the only natural island in Slovenia and is located in the Alps in Central Europe 🇪🇺 The island contains a number of buildings that do not exceed the fingers of a hand. The main building is the pilgrimage church which was built in its present form in the late 17th century. The church is famous for the weddings that are held regularly in the Alps and the green forests around. Really amazing place 🏞♥️
  • Majestic and beautiful! We visited in February, cold but no tourists! The island was breathtaking, almost empty which showed for excellent photos! Cafe was open and served good coffee. Beautiful views and clean fresh air- we lived everything about this little island!
  • Very beautiful, take your drone with you! Be carefull where to park (they will charge you a fine if you dob’t park on the right paid spot)
  • Just wow. We took a small row boat to the island and drifted along crystal-clear blue water. The boat cost us 20 euros for an hour. On the island we ate ice cream and marveled at the church. This small island has a lot of charm, but is a bit of a tourist trap. You have to pay to get there and if you want to visit the church, you have to pay again. Besides this, I would still recommend going. The trip alone is like something out of a movie.
