Built into a steep cliff above the lake, Bled Castle offers magnificent views of the small island on the lake, two nearby towns, and the surrounding mountains. German Emperor Henry II donated the castle buildings, arranged around two courtyards, to the bishop of Brixen in 1011. These days, discover the museum collection presenting the history of Bled, its culture and people. Learn about traditional hand-printing techniques at the Bled Castle Printing Works and print your own memorial document. Visit the wine cellar and ask the monks to tell you stories about the castle and Slovenia's wine regions. On a clear day, you can see all the way to the Julian Alps from the castle's terraces. A visit to Bled Castle represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Bled road trip planner to plot your vacation.

Bled Castle reviews
The views from up here are beautiful to be sure. But this is a castle. And I hate castles. If you love castles then consider my review a 5. I find castles boring, dreary, monotonous, and... more »
Aside from the view, there’s not much to see here. There are a few exhibits but they are far outweighed by the various souvenir stores and other shops/restaurants. Not really worth it although the..... more »
Remember to take you ticket to grab a boat back and either eat lunch or have a coffee and dessert at the caffe in the plaza of the castle. Of course this is best in late August when the number of... more »
The most stunning views and tranquil castle. Tour via QR code was a great touch and gave little 1-3 minute overviews of each area. Wine cellar and forge were our favourite parts! Great guys working who gave a really insightful overview of their areas. Loved it!
The views up here are fantastic. The climb up isn’t too bad either. We managed it in the rain, however, at the top, be warned the cobblestones are extremely slippery when wet! I can’t remember exactly how much it cost to enter the castle, however it was a bit steep for me as a student on a budget! Would definitely visit at least for the views, however I do regret not going inside.
Visiting the castle was one of the top highlights from our trip to the Dalmatian coast. If you can, take thus excursion. You can hardly take a bad photo here. For a small extra fee, you can climb to the top of the bell tower. I’d definitely recommend it. The views were stunning.
Magnificent castle! Worth every cents to come all the way here to visit this castle. Deep history. Wonderful beauty. Majestically display. Up here can view Bled lake and Bled island so clearly. The museum display also very nice and meaningful. Highly recommend to all to come and visit this place when visit Ljubljana!
Soooooo much fun! Do the wine bottling and paper press, both were a lot of fun. The views were amazing and everyone was super cool.
