Ruin Castle Must See
Perched atop a forested limestone hill, Hrad Ľubovňa once served as a key defensive point along the Hungarian Empire's frontier. Make your way up to the castle and admire its sturdy construction, imposing stone walls, defensive towers, and a host of dwellings and buildings within. Originally built around the turn of the 14th century, the castle underwent several rounds of renovation, modification, and expansion in the following centuries. Be sure to enter the fortified bastion, now at least superficially portraying a Renaissance architectural style, and explore the on-site museum. The museum works to catalog the history of the fortress, its residents, owners, and its role in the surrounding town. • This is the Slovak equivalent of Colonial Williamsburg. It's quite interesting to see how people lived in Slovakia hundreds of years ago. Beautiful views from this unique piece of history.  more »
  • Beautiful 14th-century castle. It's worth it to visit. Home inexpensively, 5 euro per person. The entrance to the parking lot, you can pay in us dollars (£ 9), Mr. Park said. Tickets are paid in euro or by credit card. At this price. 16.30 was a demonstration of falconers. Super highlight, you might want to see. After the show you can hold an eagle and take a photo with him. Super highlight, I recommend.

  • You can immediately feel that the restoration and the exhibits were a passion project for somebody. Get there early, you'll need at least 2 hours to see everything the place has to offer. Very friendly staff.
  • Beautiful preserved and partially restored castle formerly owned by the Bourbon de Parma family. A great visit and not yet spoiled into a tourist trap.
  • The first castle ruin complex I've visited with modern roofs and floors sympathetically installed on the larger buildings; making for a far more appealing experience. Various exhibits including one on craft guilds (stone masons, candle makers etc). Also chanced upon a decent birds of prey show which had the birds of prey swooping low over the audience's heads. Views from the high points were stunning. Most signage in Slovak, Polish & English. Calendar offers many events, which should be in the website's calendar. Be aware; the Google link is for the nearby museum & NOT the castle.
  • What a fantastic good looking castle. I was honestly impressed as the castle has been nicely redone.Only one think i didn't like was advertising Premier Fico for supporting construction like it was coming out of his packet. There for only 4 stars.
