Create an itinerary including Demanovska Ice Cave
Part of Slovakia's most extensive cave system, Demanovska Ice Cave boasts underground tunnels and permanent fixtures of ice. Visit the frozen cave and you'll be stepping into one of Europe's oldest caverns, as records date it as far back as the year 1299. Traverse the wooden walkways through the cave's 850 m (2,789 ft) of accessible space and marvel at towering ice stalagmites, stalactites, and floes covering much of the floor. You must join a guided tour in order to access the caves, and you'll pay a small fee in order to use a camera. • A really interesting formation, it was a unique experience to "go from summer to the winter" for an hour. However the ice forms are more spectacular in winter season, it was very nice so.

  • May be this is cave from ice age. The Ice Cave name itself is not appropriate, we are of opinion. The parky space is huge.

  • We were there about 10 years ago and was amazing. The ice columns, just as on the pictures. Now all that is gone. Just some ice and snow on the ground. Disappointing. Be prepared to come earlier as there is 10-20 min hike from the road to the entrance of the cage. Additional fee for parking about 8EUR.
  • Attractive cave but we expected to see some more ice. Inside very beautiful. Hiking uphill takes about 15 minutes. Be aware, inside the cave it is cold so advise not to wear shorts.
  • You'll pay 7€ for the parking, potential 10€ for the allowecence to take photos and in the end there's almost no ice inside and little crying babies as they are allowed inside and parents think that it's a great idea to take their 1 or 2 year old babies with them to the cold, dark, humid cave... So you barely hear the information about the cave the guide is providing.
  • False advertising! On the pictures so much ice and what a few shovels of snow. Ridiculous. 7 euro parking!? 8 euro for entrance ok 10 euro for making pictures ?! Of what exactly? Only Slovakian language guide. An English or in other words international guide would be nice. I speak three languages fluently, but one can’t know every language. Utter waste of time and money.
  • A very good place for kids! Better be fit before you go there :) you're going to climb a mountain using stairs. By-The-Way - please note - the forest isn't there for your trash! Use a bag!
