Demanovska Ice Cave, Liptovsky Mikulas
Categories: Geologic Formations, Caves, Nature & Parks
Part of Slovakia's most extensive cave system, Demanovska Ice Cave boasts underground tunnels and permanent fixtures of ice. Visit the frozen cave and you'll be stepping into one of Europe's oldest caverns, as records date it as far back as the year 1299. Traverse the wooden walkways through the cave's 850 m (2,789 ft) of accessible space and marvel at towering ice stalagmites, stalactites, and floes covering much of the floor. You must join a guided tour in order to access the caves, and you'll pay a small fee in order to use a camera.
